Cody

What Cody might look like today

Cody was a female wolf-dog who looked and acted like a pure wolf.  Looking at her, it was hard to believe that she was part dog… until she barked.  Cody was bought by a woman as a gift for her wolf-loving husband.  She spent the first 2 years of her life living on a 6 ft long chain in their back yard with a German shepherd for company.  The two humans divorced, and the woman left with Cody’s companion.

With her companion gone, Cody became an escape artist and a loud barker, which caused many problems with the neighbors.  The man began to tranquilize Cody, first only during the day, and then all the time. Eventually she came to Mission:Wolf to join a male wolf in an enclosure built for them.

Cody, now a very neurotic animal, was very unhappy living at Mission:Wolf.  She barked at everyone and everything within the vicinity on her enclosure.  Cody could not adjust to her new home, and actually killed another of Mission:Wolf’s resident wolves.  The refuge staff and her owner realized that Cody could never learn to live at the refuge or anywhere else. Thankfully, her owner took responsibility for Cody by retrieving her and sadly but respectfully euthanized her.
